On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, the largest and most gigantic statue of King Amenhotep III, father of King Akhenaten, was unveiled in the city of Luxor in Upper Egypt, specifically in the Temple of King Amenhotep III on the west bank of the Nile River. The statue was discovered by an Egyptian group led by Mr. Zahi Hawass, Minister of Antiquities. It is said that when it is restored it will be placed at the entrance to the temple on the left. There are two large statues of King Amenhotep III, the first was discovered in 1928 in the city of Luxor as well
