The high dam or the Aswan dam is one of the water dams located on the Nile in the southern region of Egypt. It was built during the reign of the president of Nasser with the help of the Soviets. This dam helped control the flow of water and mitigate the effects of the Nile flood, Electricity generation. It is about three thousand meters long, its base width is 180 meters and its peak is about 40 meters. The size of the dam's body is about forty-three million of cubic meters of cement, iron and other materials, with eleven thousand of cubic meters of water flowing through the second.
The High Dam was built in 1960, and its final cost was estimated at about one billion dollars, one third of which was deducted by the Soviet Union. It was built by four hundred Soviet experts, and completed in 1968, which was officially opened in 1971. It should be noted that the first to refer to the construction of this dam is the Muslim world Hassan bin al-Haytham, who did not have the opportunity to implement his idea because of the lack of machinery for building at the time.
